Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has a lot to look forward to right now. This coming Sunday, February 9, the football star will compete against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, which will be held at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, but there’s a more personal event on Barkley’s docket that he’s likely thinking about: his forthcoming wedding to longtime girlfriend Anna Congdon. On February 2, 2025, Barkley confirmed to People that he and Congdon, who he has been dating since college, are engaged. “I have an amazing fiancée,” he reportedly told the outlet.
“I can’t be the athlete I am and have the success I have so in my career without the help of her,” he went on to say. “She’s been super helpful and always has my back, not only in football but throughout life there’s a lot that goes on. But as we continue to grow and mature and go through life together, we continue getting closer and continue to get even better.”
Barkley also discussed the couple’s two children and how they parent as a team. “And it’s a beautiful thing because we have two amazing children that we were raised it and we just sit back and laugh sometimes when they’re over there playing and just smile and think about where everything started.”
“And now we got a 6-year-old who’s about to be seven, who knows it all already, and then our son who’s all into toys and trucks and cars and he’s just a boy. He likes fighting, he likes playing football. So we cherish all those moments,” the football pro said.
Barkley and Congdon met while attending Penn State University and have been a couple since 2017. In April of 2018, the pair welcomed their first child, a daughter named Jada. In September of 2022, they became a family of four with the arrival of Saquon Jr., their son. Congdon and the kids are among Barkley’s biggest supporters, often by his side on the football field. Last month, when he helped win the NFC Championship game, securing the Eagles’ spot in the Super Bowl, Barkley’s family there to celebrate. “If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would…,” Congdon wrote in a post on Instagram, which showcased the family of four hugging as confetti rained down upon them.
The pair likely aren’t planning the wedding just yet. Right now, Barkley is laser-focused on preparing for the Super Bowl, which will also take place on his 28th birthday. “The best birthday gift you can have is playing in the Super Bowl and the only thing better than that is winning the Super Bowl on your birthday. So plans before or after…I really don’t have any idea or any game plan at all. I’m really just focusing on going out there and playing this game and trying to continue to play at a high level.”
If the Eagles pull off a win, it’s safe to say that Barkley and his family will enjoy a triple celebration.
