After eight years together, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez may be planning to tie the knot. Recently, the model shared a photo of a prominent diamond ring, which she’s wearing on the fourth finger of her left hand. While she didn’t confirm that the piece was, in fact, an engagement ring, its cut, color, carat size, and placement certainly point to the possibility. Rodríguez posted the photo of the sparkler on her Instagram Stories on April 14, 2025, accompanied by the words, “And keep evil away from us, Amen,” which were written in Arabic. Some hypothesized that the words were directed at some recent online threats the duo received, which resulted in them increasing their security protection.
While the details about the ring haven’t yet been released, it’s clear that the sparkler is a top-tier piece. “The emerald-cut center stone is definitely over 10 carats (maybe over 15 carats!) [and is] likely set in platinum with tapered baguettes,” Emily Strauss, the founder of EF Collection, a Los Angeles-based fine jewelry brand, exclusively tells BRIDES. “It could be a perfect diamond (D, flawless) with top workmanship. I’d guess that the ring is well over a million dollars, but without knowing exactly what it weighs, it’s hard to know.” As the most followed person on Instagram and a contract estimated to be worth over $200 million dollars annually, it’s fair to assume that Ronaldo would spend such an amount on his partner’s ring.
While neither the professional soccer player nor the model have commented on a supposed engagement, they have previously discussed the possibility of doing so in interviews for Rodríguez’s Netflix show, I Am Georgina. In an episode, the model detailed how her friends constantly bring up such a step. “They’re always joking about the wedding,” she said. “‘When is the wedding?’ Since Jennifer Lopez‘s song ‘The Ring Or When’ came out, they started singing it to me. And well, this is not up to me.” The former Real Madrid star was candid in what he was waiting for before popping the question to his longtime partner. “I always tell her, ‘when we get that click,’” he said in the show. “Like everything with our life, and she knows what I’m talking about.” Even though the athlete was coy in his response, he did reiterate that he was confident the two would eventually reach such a milestone. “It could be in a year or it could be in six months or it could be in a month,” he said in the series. “I’m 1000 [percent] sure that it’ll happen.”
The duo first crossed paths in 2016—while she was working as a sales associate at Gucci, and he was playing for Real Madrid. The soccer star was candid about the hesitation he had about Rodríguez when they first started seeing each other. “[I] didn’t think at the beginning that [the relationship] would be this strong,” he said in the Netflix show. “That I would fall in love with her. I didn’t expect it honestly. But after a while I felt that she was the woman of my life.” It’s clear Rodríguez feels the same way. “[I’m] the girlfriend of the most followed man,” Rodríguez said in the show. “Cristiano is great, he’s a very normal guy. I dreamed of having a Prince Charming by my side and now I have him.”
