A time when nature restarts with life in vivid color.  Warmer temperatures and extended daylight practically beg you to get outside. Today we’re discussing your spring birthstone and the energy it reflects: fresh, vibrant, and full of new life!

What better way to jump into spring than with gemstones that are just as vibrant? Whether you’re shopping for a birthday, a “just because” gift, or a little sparkle for yourself (yes, you deserve it), spring birthstones offer a gorgeous range of colors and styles to love year-round.

March Birthstones

Aquamarine

Aquamarine is one of the most popular birthstones—not just for March babies. So, what exactly
is aquamarine? It’s the greenish-blue variety of the beryl mineral family. Aquamarine has some
gorgeous “cousins” in the beryl family, like emerald (green), morganite (blush pink), and
heliodor (yellow). They all share the same chemical makeup, but each has its own unique color
and personality.

In the jewelry world, aquamarine is a total muse. Its tranquil, sea-glass color pairs beautifully
with both white and yellow gold, making it a versatile favorite for pieces from statement rings to
delicate pendants. This spring birthstone’s relatively high hardness also makes it a great choice
for everyday wear.

Diamond

Diamond is April’s birthstone, and we’re not trying to play favorites, but could you blame us? It
may just be our top spring birthstone. Diamonds are prized for their exceptional hardness,
along with their remarkable brilliance and sparkle. Diamonds are the hardest material on earth,
according to GIA–they are
58 times harder than anything else in nature. Their durability makes

What Does Diamond Say About You?

  • You may be a little extra, but always worth it
  • Main character…syndrome? That would imply it’s an issue
  • You’re strong, resilient and built to thrive under pressure

Diamond Facts

Diamonds are composed entirely of pure carbon and belong to the cubic (or isometric) crystal
system. This gives them their symmetrical sparkle and that signature brilliance we’ve all come to
love. Diamonds are available in a wide color range, from colorless (D-Z GIA color grading scale)
to yellow, brown, pink, blue, green, red, and black (black is often enhanced so they exhibit a rich
color shade). They also rank a perfect 10 out of 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, making them
the hardest naturally occurring mineral, virtually scratch resistant, and crafted to last a lifetime
and then some.

Both natural and lab-grown diamond quality is evaluated using the GIA (Gemological Institute of
America)
grading scale, which assesses four key factors known as the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity,
and Carat Weight. Here is a brief breakdown:

  • Cut determines how well a diamond interacts with light, affecting its brilliance and sparkle–
this is due to its symmetry. Cut is graded from
Excellent to Poor. Cut should not be
confused with shape–shape refers to the outline of the stone (marquise, round, etc.).
  • Color measures how much (or how little) color is visible in a white diamonds, graded from
D (colorless) to Z (noticeable color). The less color, the rarer and more valuable the stone,
although it all comes down to personal style and preference! Fancy color diamonds, such as
blue, pink or yellow are graded on a different scale, as they are prized for their vivid hues.
  • Clarity measures how clean the diamond is internally and externally. Clarity refers to the
presence of internal inclusions (growth characteristics) or external blemishes (on the
    surface), graded from
Flawless (FL) to Included (I1, I2, I3), with beautiful diamonds falling
    everywhere in between!
  • Carat Weight refers to how much the diamond itself weighs, which gives us a sense of its
size. Bigger isn’t always better—finding the right balance of all 4 C’s and your personal taste,
    is the most important!

Symbolism and Mysticality:

Diamonds are said to amplify energy and intention. In ancient times they were thought to
contain divine power and were used by kings, shamans and warriors alike for protection and
strength. In modern, metaphysical circles diamonds are associated with a strong connection to
the self and the universe. They are said to enhance your inner vision, bringing you closer to
yourself creatively. In terms of love, diamonds have a chokehold on the jewelry world.
Symbolizing the strength of love and commitment, diamonds have been the choice of couples
for generations, making it a seriously coveted spring birthstone.
