Just days after taking over the storied Intercounty Baseball League team, Smith announced that this will be a ‘Reverse Tariffs Season’ where fans will receive free admission to all of Brantford’s 21 home games at Cockshutt Park’s Arnold Anderson Stadium.

“All the home games that we have are going to be free to get in for every person that wants to attend,” Smith said.

“We want to do that because Brantford has been so supportive of the Red Sox for all these years. We want to build relationships and thank everyone for being so kind and so supportive of the Red Sox for these 100-plus years.”

Smith’s ‘Reverse Tariffs Season’ is in response to a looming trade war between the United States and Canada that is being initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Smith, an American, is also using the initiative to highlight the friendship between Canada and the U.S. He emphasized that the move was made to celebrate Brantford’s baseball history and the ties between Canada and the U.S.

“This ‘Reverse Tariffs Season’ is very important to me because we want the Red Sox and the City of Brantford to celebrate the 114 years that the Red Sox have been playing in Brantford, because we want to Celebrate the Greatness of the City of Brantford, because we want to thank everyone in Brantford for supporting the Red Sox for all these 114 years, because we want the Brantford Red Sox to do our part to reverse the tariffs, and because we want to display the great love and the tremendous respect that all Americans and all Canadians have for each other,” he said.

Brantford’s first home game of the season is May 11 against the London Majors at 2 p.m.
