Frustration in purchasing Carpuride | BMW MOA

Here’s an update from my original post. After waiting the WalMart-decreed 10 business days, plus a few more for good measure, the money was still not available in my PP account. I called WM again, who said, “Oh, so sorry, but it appears we did what we needed to. You’ll need to contact PP and then wait up to an additional 10 business days for it to be corrected.”

I prepared for the worst and called PP customer service. What a pleasant change; my experience was different in just about every way:

  • I was pretty easily able to navigate their phone tree to speak with a human.
  • Said human sounded like they were not from the other side of the planet.
  • The rep accepted my explanation, asked me to send a screen shot of the cancelation, and waited patiently with me while I juggled my cell phone and laptop to do so.
  • With the proof I provided, immediately reversed the transaction, and replenished my funds.

It’s hard to be complimentary about a customer service these days, but I have to admit that my PP experience was surprisingly pleasant. Plus, I learned that I could have made that call immediately after I received the cancelation notice, and they would have taken care of it right then. Thank for nothing, WalMart.

Oh, and icing on the cake — after my second call to WM, I received another email from them offering me a $10 discount. Was it for all my hassles with this order? No. It was because it was my customer service rep’s first day, and they wanted to thank me for being part of his learning experience.

Regarding the Carpuride vs Chigee debate, I don’t doubt the Chigee is the better unit. My trouble is that the bike budget it thin now and I had just enough available for a Carpuride unit. Dealing with the above nonsense has caused me to pause and re-evaluate. During the past couple of weeks, I realized the unit I planned to buy was a 702B; this is the one for BMWs, but does not have the WW integration. The 702BS does, but is $100 more. So now I’m waffling between the 702B for $250, the 702BS at around $350, a leftover Chigee AIO-5 for around $450, or holding out for the AIO-6 for $550.
